New Revolutions

January 4 – January 26, 2019 –
Blackboard Gallery, Studio Channel Islands,
Camarillo, CA

A group exhibition to welcome in the new year, features artists whose work proclaims their personal and creative intentions for this next orbit around the sun. In this special year which marks the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landings the Blackboard Gallery presents a show in which artists consider the bigger picture, the revolution of our planet around the Sun, the great movements of time and space through which we must travel to complete another year.

Included in the exhibition is the woodcut Growing Orbits, inspired by a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke.

Growing Orbits

From The Book of Hours
By Rainer Maria Rilke

I live my life in growing orbits
which move out over the things of the world.
Perhaps I can never achieve the last,
but that will be my attempt.

I am circling around God, around the ancient tower
and have been circling for a thousand years
and I still do not know if I am a falcon, a storm
or a great song.
