The Everglades in a Suitcase
When it comes to climate change, the world is now at a critical crossroads. Officials from the United Nations have recently issued reports that stress this ominous fact: unless drastic measures are taken globally to limit and reduce carbon emissions, the results will be catastrophic. It seems evident that the final window of opportunity to reverse global warming is about to close, and yet many of us still react with a sense of complacency instead of urgency.

For those of us who still find ourselves living comfortably on dry land, one may only need to look at something more familiar and immediate: Florida, a popular holiday destination for visitors worldwide, is also home to the Everglades fragile ecosystem represented by the 1,500,000 acre Everglades National Park. Known for its unique flora and fauna, including alligators and crocodiles, the Florida Everglades is also facing certain extinction unless the world acts quickly.

Galleri Schaeffers Gate 5 is proud to host AIRIE’s 2014 traveling exhibition, “The Suitcase Show” by artists from the Park. For no matter how small it might seem, each impression left on each thinking individual can indeed make a difference.
