Slogging through swamps, wading through weeds, and getting off the beaten path, I sketch native habitats and make environmental woodcuts. This selection of woodcuts represents several locations that I have explored, from the Mojave to the California coast. I get to know a place through the plants, flowers, trees, stumps, and weeds. All of these woodcuts depict places that I’ve spent time in. Each image triggers a memory of a specific place, season, time of day.
