Two-day workshop.
Use your skills from the drawing class and create an image for a relief print. 

Intro to Expressive Drawing with Judith Hopkins
Date:  March 11
Time:  10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Bring lunch)
Location:  Studio Channel Islands, Studio R4
This workshop translates observational skills and perception into mark making. Explore various forms of mark making while gaining the confidence to create expressive drawings using line, shadow, texture and gesture. All skill levels are welcome! Materials will be provided. No prior drawing skills needed.

Intro to Relief Printmaking with Mollie Doctrow
Date: March 18
Time:  10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Bring lunch)
Location:  Studio Channel Islands, Studio A2
Explore the tradition and charm of hand-printed images, rich inks, and beautiful papers. Learn the art of relief printmaking, from drawing and design tips, to carving and printing. Bring a favorite sketch or photo and interpret it as a linocut. 

Make black and white prints and then explore creative options,combining prints with watercolor and collage techniques.

All materials provided for the Intro to Relief Printmaking Workshops. Supplies include carving blocks, carving tools to use during the workshop, inks, and papers. Image size will be 3″ x 4″. A handout with print history and terminology will be available. Workshops are suitable for beginning and intermediate students, teen – adult.
